The goal is to harmoniously integrate mining into the province's economic framework, promoting sustainable development that includes citizen participation and a commitment to existing laws and local communities. This integration is essential to fostering equitable economic and social growth.

The governor of Mendoza will lead the first presentation of the Summit alongside the governors of Catamarca, Raúl Jalil; Salta, Gustavo Sáenz; San Juan, Marcelo Orrego; and Jujuy, Carlos Sadir. The panel will be moderated by Roberto Cacciola, president of the Argentine Chamber of Mining Companies.
Mendoza will host the world's top experts in the field during the Mendoza Mining and Sustainability Summit (CMSM), which will span three days and feature national authorities as well as international experts in mining and capital markets.
Governor Alfredo Cornejo will open the event and lead the first presentation on the "Copper Roundtable," joined by his counterparts from the Andean provinces with mining potential: Raúl Jalil, governor of Catamarca; Gustavo Sáenz of Salta; Marcelo Orrego of San Juan; and Carlos Sadir of Jujuy, along with Roberto Cacciola, president of the Argentine Chamber of Mining Companies.
In May, these five provinces signed the "Copper Roundtable" agreement during the 2024 San Juan Mining Expo to jointly promote the copper industry, a mineral that will be highly demanded globally as part of the transition to clean energy.
The Copper Roundtable is modeled after the Lithium Roundtable and was conceived in Brussels, Belgium, initiated by the governors of Salta (Gustavo Sáenz), Catamarca (Raúl Jalil), and San Juan (Marcelo Orrego) during a trade mission to the European Union.
This initiative is crucial for Argentina, which has not produced copper since the closure of the La Alumbrera mine in 2018, despite having a project portfolio that could place it among the world's top producers.
By integrating Mendoza into the Roundtable, the efforts of the provinces and mining companies backing copper projects are consolidated, potentially positioning Argentina as a prominent global copper producer.
